2020 feels more like a tool watch year. That being said, here’s a cool new dress watch:
Hamilton teamed up with the watch aficionados at Hodinkee on a special, vintage-inspired version of their Intra-Matic. 38mm wide, it features a beautiful champagne-colored dial, date wheel at 6 o’clock, thin, baton hour and minute hands and indices and, well, that’s it — no seconds hand. As it should be for an elegant watch.

At $845, the 10mm-thick Intra-Matic is packed with value: it features the tried-and-true, Swiss-made ETA 2892A2 automatic movement with 42 hours of power reserve, a domed sapphire crystal, and a design (and lug width) that works well with myriad straps. (The watch ships on a brown leather strap, unadorned with any stitching and evidently very supple and comfortable, according to our friends at Hodinkee.) Hamilton’s midcentury logo ties the whole package together — if the watch were manually wound and a bit smaller, you might just mistake it for something released in the 1960s.
