When most watch enthusiasts think of the words “minimalist German dress watch,” both NOMOS and Junghans spring to mind immediately, but even Sinn, the German watch brand known for its ultra-tough divers and chronographs, really knows how to make an elegant dress timepiece.
The 1736 St I 4N (let’s just call it the 1736 from now on) is one of the newest additions to the brand’s 2017 lineup and it checks all the right boxes. At 36mm in diameter and only 9mm in case thickness, it’s fantastically proportioned. It’s run by an ETA 2892 automatic movement, and its dial is comprised of a radiant sunburst and gold-plated hands. And just so you don’t think the company has gone soft, Sinn has made the 1736 antimagnetic and shock resistant to the same DIN standards as the rest of its tool watches. It’s currently available for preorder, and at $1,780, it’s fantastically priced, too.
