Omega had a big year in 1957. Sixty years ago, the brand launched three of its most iconic watches to date: the Speedmaster, the Seamaster and the Railmaster. As you’d expect, Omega is celebrating with a trio of special editions.
The original watches all had the same basic dial design, and by using digital scanning technology Omega has done its best with a solid re-creation. All three have the “broad arrow” hour hands of the original, as well as a brownish-black “tropical” dial color. Omega also went for some faux aging of the lume on the hour hand — which may be a sticking point with some purists, but ultimately it lends itself to a warm, retro look.
Omega will make 3,557 examples for each variant, as well as an additional 557 box sets containing all three watches. The price of the box set has yet to be announced; the individual Speedmaster, Seamaster and Railmaster will cost approximately $6,770, $6,565 and $6,365 respectively.
