Detroit-based Shinola’s flagship collection, the Runwell, includes quartz and automatic watches, chronographs and three-hand models, as well as size options ranging from 39.5mm to 47mm. The latest Runwell takes the form of a field watch, and it’s got a functional, military look and a focus on durability.
The Runwell Field Watch is in line with the quartz collection’s smaller-diameter models at 41mm. Rather than use the familiar field watch dial design featuring 24-hour military time alongside the 12-hour markers, the dial here is consistent with that of the Runewell collection. Aside from the black face and green textile strap, however, the Field Watch earns its name with a carbide coating meant to add extra durability and scratch resistance. This, alongside sapphire crystal and 100m of water resistance, make for a watch that’s genuinely made for rough use.
Like other Shinola watches, the Runwell Field Watch is assembled by the brand in Detroit, and it’s available directly online for a price of $650
