A new quartz chronograph model in TAG Heuer’s Formula 1 collection celebrates motorsports’ most famous race: the Indianapolis 500. While the Indy 500 will be held this year without spectators due to pandemic conditions, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 watch is a nod to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway track itself and its history.

With the 43mm case and quartz movement familiar to other models in the collection, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Indy 500 2020 Special Edition was created in collaboration with the organizers of the IndyCar series. The watch is distinguished most notably by a red brick motif across its dial in the same way other racing watches sometimes feature sporty stripes. This references the Speedway’s nickname of “the Brickyard” for a strip of exposed bricks at its start/finish line, hinting at the track’s 3.2 million bricks that have today been paved over with asphalt.
Other cues F1 fans will appreciate include “Indy 500” branding on the dial and bezel as well as the case back. Chronograph functionality and quartz accuracy make for a practical, racing-themed watch with sleek modern looks thanks to a black DLC coated case and ceramic bezel.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 43 mm Indy 500 2020 Special Edition is available directly from the brand for a price of $2,100.
