Well I don’t know about you, but I’ve personally been waiting for this for years: a mechanical Timex MK1 that recalls original handwound Camper models of the 1980s. Timex has finally delivered via its Archive Project, and I want one.
Housed in a perfectly sized 36mm stainless steel case, the new MK1 Mechanical features a 20-jewel, handwound movement and 50m of water resistance. Featuring a classic, olive drab-colored MK1/Camper dial with inner 24-hour track, large Arabic indices and and a lollipop seconds hand, the design is simple and highly legible — exactly what you want form a field watch.
The MK1 Mechanical ships on a two-piece fabric strap in olive drab and grey and is available now for $185. Let’s hope this is the first in many iterations of this new handwound model.
