In 1957 Longines launched the Flagship, a simple, elegant and dressy watch emblematic of the dress watch style during the 1950s and ’60s. To celebrate 60 years since it first launched, Longines is releasing a limited edition in its honor, the Flagship Heritage, which practically looks like it was plucked out of the 1960s.
That’s because this new Heritage has all the hallmarks of a classic dress watch — the dished, two-tone silver-and-white dial, dauphine hands and mid-century numerals are a spot-on interpretation of classic dress watch design. Further, Longines kept the case size down at 38mm. It’s bigger than the original (which was 35mm) but considering the sizes of most modern watches today, it’s comparatively reserved. Ticking away inside is Longines’s automatic caliber L609, based on the ETA 2895-2.
Three versions will be available, one in stainless steel and two in solid yellow and rose gold. Longines will make 1,957 versions in steel, 60 in yellow gold and 60 in rose gold. Prices have not been announced yet, but if the similar Conquest Heritage is anything to go off of, we speculate they’ll land around $2,000 for the steel version and $5,500 for the gold ones.
