A New, All Black, Mechanical Chronograph from Montblanc for Under $5,000

Not to mention a DLC-coated case and a ceramic bezel.

Montblanc’s modus operandi is generally vintage-looking and dressy timepieces (and a few very complex pieces, to boot), but its TimeWalker collection is a bit of a standout, emphasizing sleek and sporty designs with black DLC-coated cases. At SIHH 2017, Montblanc has added a new watch to that collection, the TimeWalker Chronograph UTC.

The UTC’s most noticeable features are without a doubt the 43mm DLC-coated case and the layout of its chronograph movement, but look a little closer and you’ll notice an extra hour hand, making it one of the very few modern watches on the market that combine both a chronograph and a GMT function in one watch. This is managed by MontBlanc’s 25.03 movement, a retweaked version of the Valjoux 7754 automatic chronograph. The UTC also features a uni-directional rotating bezel in ceramic, as well as your choice of both perforated leather and rubber straps. When the TimeWalker Chronograph UTC goes on sale later this year, it will do so with an MSRP of $4,990 — not bad considering the amount of watch you get for the money.
