Big Swiss watch brands are not one to readily embrace technology (go figure), let alone the internet, but Omega has announced a new limited-edition Speedmaster inspired by #SpeedyTuesday, a weekly celebration of Speedmasters created by Fratello Watches founder Robert-Jan Broer in 2012 and upheld by the vocal online community of Omega Speedmaster enthusiasts. Based on the venerable Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the new Speedy features a reverse “panda” dial color scheme, with a healthy smattering of lume on the sub-dials. The watch will come with both a black-and-white NATO and brown leather strap, as well as a leather watch roll. Not only is (probably) it the first watch inspired by a hashtag, but it’ll also be the first watch that Omega allows buyers to order online. Only 2,012 examples will be made, with a retail price of $6,500.
