Seiko has just announced two new additions to its Prospex line of tool watches. Dubbed “Blue Lagoon,” they’re the latest watches to cash in on the growing blue-dial trend in the industry and are based on two classic Seiko designs. The first model is the SRPB11 based on Seiko’s Prospex SRP777 “Turtle,” a reissue of Seiko’s 6309 diver from the ’80s (and a GP100 winner). The second model is the SRPB09, which borrows its case design from the discontinued Seiko “Samurai” Diver, which enjoyed a brief production run from 2005 to 2008. Both watches feature the same almost ’70s-esque color scheme: metallic blue dials with silver-colored hour markers, yellow seconds hands and blue rotating bezels with a turquoise-colored count-up scale.
Both watches are cased up in stainless steel and run automatic movements with 41–hour power reserves, hand-winding and hacking seconds — they’re also both water resistant up to 200 meters. The SRPB11 and SRPB09 will be available for purchase in early February, retailing for $575 and $550, respectively.
