The watch industry is awash with too much news to cover. Each week, we’ll break down everything worth knowing. This week: IWC’s first “blue movement,” Baume & Mercier’s newly released unique GMT, the most funded watch on Kickstarter and more.
IWC Is Feeling Blue

IWC’s latest “Le Petit Prince” watch features an annual calendar movement with a rotor in the shape of the titular Prince standing atop a tiny planet. The watch will be available in either red or white gold, both in 46mm cases and in a limited run of 250 each. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the watch, though, is the white gold version’s movement, which is finished in blue — a first for IWC.
A Unique Take on the GMT

Baume & Mercier’s latest addition to the Clifton line features a unique GMT indicator. It’s located in a half-circle sub-dial with two arcs at 12 o’clock and features a double-sided hand — the white hand and arc indicate hours 6 through 18 and the red hands and arc indicate hours 18 through 6. The watch also features a power reserve indicator and a 43mm case, and is priced at $3,690.
