The watch industry is awash with too much news to cover. Each week, we’ll break down everything worth knowing. This week: Jaeger-LeCoultre’s new alarm watch, a reasonably priced GMT from a German watchmaker, the history of Patek Philippe and more.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Memovox Boutique Edition

Jaeger-LeCoultre was not the first watchmaker to make an alarm wristwatch, but the brand was the first to make an automatic alarm watch: the Memorex, which has long endured as an icon of 20th-century watchmaking. To celebrate 60 years since the Memorex was created, Jaeger-LeCoultre has created a limited boutique edition, modeled after the popular “Snowdrop” Memorex of the ‘70s, featuring a stunning blue dial.
A New German GMT

German watchmaker Mühle has just released a new pilot’s watch: the Terrasport IV GMT. It’s a 42mm stinaless steel watch utilizing a modified automatic GMT movement from Sellita. Meanwhile, the dial is a flieger design, with super legible, stark white-on-black numerals.
