Oris Divers Sixty-Five Adds Blue Dial Option

TWIW-gear-patrol-oris

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five caught our attention when it was introduced last year thanks to its retro good looks, svelte dimensions and sub-$2,000 price tag. New for this year, Oris has given the watch a touch of blue by way of a new chapter ring, which fits seamlessly with the late-’60s design motif seen elsewhere on the watch. Inside beats a Swiss automatic movement, and the price will remain just south of $2,000.

IWC Adds 3 New Models to Aquatimer Family

TWIW-gear-patrol-iwc

IWC is bringing three new models to the Aquatimer family this year, including two special-edition watches. The first is a 44mm chronograph dubbed Edition “La Cumbre Volcano,” dedicated to its namesake within the Galapagos Islands. Next up is a classic blue-dialed three-hander that comes in at 42mm. It’s called the Edition “Expedition Jacques-Yves Cousteau,” and it honors its namesake, the famed French diver and oceanographer. Lastly, the Aquatimer Automatic 2000 will bring a black dial with yellow hands and hour markers to the party. It’ll be good for dives on down to 2,000 meters and holds an IWC-manufactured movement.

REC P-51 Mustang Watch Gets Crowdfunded

TWIW-gear-patrol-REC

The P-51 watch from REC has reached its funding goal on Kickstarter, which means production will begin this month. The watch is unique in that it utilizes recycled parts from vintage Ford Mustang cars as dial plates. The timekeeping portion of the dial is reminiscent of the dial you’d find on the car, while the cushion-shaped 44mm case rounds out the retro personality and holds an automatic movement. The watch comes in three flavors, and deals can still be had through the Kickstarter campaign.

Carl F. Bucherer Goes Black for the New Patravi TravelTec

TWIW-gear-patrol-CFB

Carl F. Bucherer is bringing a new look to the Patravi TravelTec watch in the form of a matte black DLC that takes black from the dial to the case, and even the bracelet. Still present is the GMT functionality and chronograph timing complication. In fact, thanks to dual bezel pieces, three time zones can be tracked with the TravelTec. Expect to see more of this watch come springtime at the Baselworld watch fair.
