Gentlemen, let us introduce you to a new watch brand called Praesto. Praesto is a new effort from Giovino Watch Company, a Hong Kong-based unit who’s been in the business for several years producing private labeled watches. For the last few months, we’ve been closely following their progress and they just released their first watch, the Praesto Modern Fliegerhr – Aviator.

The Praesto Modern Fliegeruhr – Aviator is remix of your classic aviator and is offered in 3 colorways including beadblasted steel with a blue dial, beadblasted with a grey dial, or a PVD case with a grey dial. Each color is limited to only 100 pieces but we managed to get our hands on a PVD version for review.

The Praesto Modern Fliegeruher – Aviator features a 44mm 316L grade stainless steel case with the model and serial number on the screw-down caseback. The case is water resistant down to 200 meters houses a reliable 21 jewel automatic Miyota 8245 movement.

On the wrist, this PVD beauty sits comfortably and measures only 12.5mm thick. The low profile allows the watch to fit nicely underneath your cuff. The dial is clean and easy to read and the skeletonized hands come alive at night with a full charge of the watch’s SuperLuminova. Additionally, the dial is protected by a sapphire crystal and finished with an AR coating on the underside.

For the strap, Praesto equips the Modern Fliegeruhr – Aviator with a leather offering that measures 24×5.6mm at the lugs. The strap comes extra long for big-wristed western folks leaving those with a smaller wrist the need to get an extra hole punched. The strap also features white stitching for additional contrast and comes with a Panerai style stamped tang.

Minus the strap, the only other changes we’d make would be to add more lume on the skeletonized hands. The hands are bright on a full charge but fade rather quickly since they’re thin. Besides these minor issues, the high quality components and finish, along with the affordable price makes this watch a reasonable choice and reminds us of fellow upstart Lum-Tec. Without a doubt, Praesto is off to a solid start in the watch industry with their Modern Fliegeruhr – Aviator and we’re looking forward to seeing what Praesto has in the way of the future.
