For years, TCL has been arguably the biggest name in affordable 4K TVs … and that doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon.

At CES earlier the year, TCL announced its QM6K TV entry-level line, which combined its Mini-LED backlighting technology with an Onkyo-tuned sound system and a very palatable price tag — a 65-inch model starts at $1,000.

Well, fast forward two months and TCL has released a more premium version of that entry-level TV. Meet the TCL QM7K.

A mid-range upgrade

The TCL QM7K is the company’s new midrange line of TVs for 2025, but you can really think of it as an upgraded version of its entry-level QM6K line.

The two have many similarities, including a mini-LED display powered by TCL’s Halo Control System, which promises “stunning picture accuracy.” And each has a high refresh screen, supports for the latest HDR technologies (including Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HDR10), and comes with Google TV operating system.

The main differences between the two TVs comes down to two things: picture and sound quality.

Improved picture with B&O sound

Predictably, the TCL QM7K TVs have an upgraded display with significantly more dimming zones (2,500 compared to the QM6K’s 500), allowing it to have more control over its picture quality and have superior contrast. It also gets brighter (up to 3,000 nits) and has an anti-reflective panel, making it a better fit for brightly-lit rooms.

Then there’s the sound. The TCL QM7K has a built-in 2.2-channel sound system from Danish hi-fi greats Bang & Olufsen. According to the company’s press release, it delivers “noticeably more accurate home theater sound.” So, there’s less of a chance you’ll need to buy a soundbar (although we’re guessing you still probably should).

Price and availability

Just like TCL’s QM6K TVs, the QM7K TVs come in 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch and 85-inch sizes. For those who want an even larger TV, TCL will sell the QM7K TV in a 98-inch and 115-inch model, too, although they aren’t currently available.

However, the TCL QM7K TVs are a good deal more expensive than the QM76K TVs — the 55-inch and 65-inch models, which start at $1,300 and $1,500, respectively are each $500 more expensive than TCL’s QM76K alternatives.

TCL’s QM7K TVs are available now … except for the 98-inch and 115-inch models, which will cost $4,000 and $20,000, respectively, and will be released “soon.”
