Did an Unexpected Brand Just Become the New King of Affordable 4K TVs?

Editor’s note: After being announced in late April, all of Roku’s line of 2025 TVs are finally available for purchase now.

Roku is well known for its streaming sticks and smart operating systems, which it integrates into TVs manufactured by other brands, such as TCL and Hisense.

But in 2023, it changed things up by releasing the first Roku-branded TVs, the entry-level Roku Select Series and midrange Roku Plus Series.

Then in 2024, it followed up by releasing the Roku Pro Series, its most premium line of TVs. These are some of the most recommended budget 4K TVs on the market.

Fast forward to the present day, and Roku has announced its 2025 TV lineup, bringing considerable hardware and software upgrades to each of the three lines — the most notable of which is coming to its 2025 Plus Series of TVs.

A Mini-LED upgrade

The most significant improvement comes to Roku’s midrange line of TVs, as the 2025 Plus Series has been upgraded with Mini-LED backlighting — something that was previously reserved for its Pro series.

This Mini-LED backlighting will complement the Plus’s QLED display and, according to Roku, promises that Plus series will feature “better dynamic contrast, deeper blacks, and a wider color range.”

More Pro Series features

Additionally, the 2025 Plus Series will get some other trickle-down features from the Pro Series.

First, there’s Smart Picture Max, a setting that automatically optimizes your TV’s picture on a scene-by-scene basis. No need to mess with picture settings.

And secondly, the Plus Series is getting a remote finder button on the back of the TV. When pressed, the remote will make a sound to locate it more easily.

Price and availability

Roku’s Plus Series of TVs are available now. They come in three sizes: 55″ ($500), 65″ ($650) and 75″ ($1,000).

You can purchase these models from Amazon right now. They should be available on Walmart in the near future, too.
