The Apple Watch — no matter the model — notoriously lacks great battery life. Thus, it needs to be charged every day.

When traveling, this can be a bit of an issue because, unlike all your other Apple devices that now charge via USB-C, the Apple Watch still requires its special charging puck. So unless you have a fancy (and expensive) multi-device charger — like the Anker MagGo, Twelve South ButterFly or Mophie’s 3-in-1 Travel Charger — you’re going to need to bring your charging cable for your Apple Watch on your travels.

Well, Nomad may have just solved this problem. It just announced an “Apple Watch Edition” version of its dual-port 65-watt AC adapter that has a built-in charging puck for your Apple Watch. This means it can charge all your devices — including your iPhone, iPad or MacBook — and eliminates the need to bring your Apple Watch’s special charging cable. Neat.

Nomad 65W AC Power Adapter Apple Watch Edition

This Apple Watch Edition model works just like Nomad’s current dual-port 65-watt AC adapter. It’s built with Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, which allows the adapter to be so powerful yet still compact.

And it features Nomad’s ProCharge Power smart charging technology. When charging one device, it can directly deliver 65 watts to the device. When charging two devices, it reroutes power so that the top port receives 45 watts and the bottom port receives 20 watts.

The Apple Watch Edition model can simultaneously charge your Apple Watch too — yes, it can charge three devices at once.

Nomad’s marketing director, Chuck Melber, told Gear Patrol that the Apple Watch puck is agnostic to the two USB-C ports. When charging three devices, it splits 65 watts between the two ports and provides 3-watts to Apple Watch puck. So, according to Melber, you “could actually call it a 68-watt adapter.”

Price and Availability

The Apple Watch Edition model costs $100, which is on the expensive side — and it’s $30 more than the non-Apple Watch model ($70).

Since the Apple Watch charging puck is on the actual adapter, the Apple Watch Edition model really only makes sense for those who are going to use it as a travel accessory or if you’re going to place it where you have easy access to it — basically, it’s not meant to hide it behind a desk.
