LG is well known for its OLED TVs, which are widely considered some of the best TVs you can buy. But those can be quite expensive. For example, a 65-inch model of its newest flagship OLED TV, the C5, costs $2,700.

But LG also has a line of LCD TVs that still deliver an excellent picture — albeit, not quite as elite — and pack premium features for significantly less.

And for the first time, LG is trickling down a key technology from its OLED line into its more affordable LCD TVs.

Mini-LED backlighting

LG’s upcoming QNED evo TVs are its new premium line of LCD TVs for 2025, which you can think of as more affordable alternatives to its OLED line.

In the range, there are three models: the entry-level QNED85, the midrange QNED92 and the premium QNED9M.

All these new QNED evo TVs are powered by LG’s Alpha AI processor and feature the company’s Dynamic QNED Color solution, which replaces the quantum dot technology in its previous LCD TVs, and promises to deliver an improved picture with “outstanding depth, clarity and precision regardless of lighting conditions.”

Most significantly, the 2025 QNED evo TVs all feature Mini LED backlighting for the first time. This promises to give the TV more control of color, brightness and contrast compared to its predecessors.

Trickle-down wireless tech

One of the coolest things about LG’s new QNED evo TVs only applies to its most premium model, the QNED9M. Specifically, it’s the company’s first LCD TV to feature its Zero Connect Box, which was introduced to its OLED TVs in 2023.

The Zero Connect Box is an external setup box that houses all ports and connections for the TV and then wirelessly transmits content at 4K up to 144Hz and, according to the brand, “without latency or loss in picture and sound quality,” to the TV.

With the Zero Connect Box, it frees up the clutter and cables you’d typically get around your TV. And it gives you more flexibility to organize your room because the box (along with your streaming devices and consoles) doesn’t have to be right next to your TV.

Price and availability

All three models in LG’s 2025 line of QNED evo TVs are available for preorder on the company’s website and are expected to start shipping in May.

The entry-level QNED85 comes in five sizes that range from 55 to 100 inches. The 55-inch and 65-inch models cost $899 and $1,299, respectively.

The midrange QNED92 comes in two sizes, 75 and 85 inches. The 75-inch model costs $2,300.

Finally, the premium QNED9M comes in three sizes, 65, 75 and 86 inches. The 65-inch model starts at $1,800.
