LG has finally lifted the lid on its newest “best of the best” OLED TV.

The LG OLED evo M5 is the latest model in the company’s M-Series. It combines the innovative wireless technology that LG first brought to its M-Series in 2023, with the elite picture quality of its top-of-the-line G5 OLED TV ($2,500+).

According to LG, the M5 “sets a new gold standard for premium wireless home entertainment.”

A wireless home theater experience

Like LG’s previous M-Series, one of the big appeals of its new M5 OLED TV is its company’s Zero Connect Box. Instead of the standard ports and connections on the back of the TV, they’re all housed in an external setup box, which then wirelessly transmits content to the TV at up to 4K resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate.

The idea with the Zero Connect Box is that, not only does it make the TV look better hanging on the wall — it only requires a single cable for power — but it gives you more flexibility as to how you want to TV configured; you can place the Zero Connect Box, gaming consoles and media players in a cabinet away from the TV.

LG says that it allows for “a more flexible, cleaner setup.”

Additionally, LG has upgraded the M5 with the same OLED panel and powered by the same processor (LG’s Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen2) as featured in its flagship G5 OLED TV, which was just released a few months ago.

This means that the LG M5 promises to deliver the same elite picture quality — thanks to the panel, processor, and support for various upscaling, brightness boosting, and tone-mapping technologies — as the company’s top-end OLED TV.

But since it has the Zero Connect Box, which the G5 lacks, you can have a much cleaner home theater and gaming setup.

Price and availability

When LG first introduced the M-Series and the Zero Connect Box in 2023, the TV was only available in one, extremely large, 97-inch size. But that’s since changed.

The LG OLED evo M5 will be available in four sizes, including 65-, 77-, 83 and 97-models. Price and availability information have not yet been released. But you can expect to pay more than its G5 counterparts, which start at $3,400 for a 65-inch model.

For those who are interested in a similar wireless setup, but don’t want to spend that much on a premium OLED TV, LG does offer a more affordable mini-LED TV, the QNED9M, that comes with Zero Connect Box.
