Believe it or not, we’re just two months away from Apple announcing new iPhones. And, naturally, the rumor mill is churning fast.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro series will undoubtedly receive some key upgrades. You can expect faster chips, slimmer bezels and larger screens. As in years past, some of the higher-end features of the iPhone 15 Pro —like the Action Button — will trickle down to the non-Pro iPhone 16 line, too.
There are even rumblings of a brand-new button — a capacitive-touch “Capture” button — that will be located on the right side of all iPhone 16 and 16 Pro models and used for camera controls.
The cameras on all models will be improved, of course. And the advanced 5x zoom capabilities of the current Pro Max is expected to roll out to the smaller iPhone 16 Pro, too.
Unfortunately, you may have to wait for the biggest camera upgrade. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, the iPhone 17 Pro series will have a rear quad-camera system with, most excitingly, a new 48-megapixel tetraprism telephoto lens.

The rumored camera would help the iPhone 17 Pro series’ take significantly improved photos and videos (especially in low light) and improve its zoom. It’d be a big upgrade over the current iPhone 15 Pro Max, which packs a 12-megapixel tetraprism telephoto lens and has the most advanced zoom capabilities — 5x optical zoom (max) and 25x digital zoom (max) — of any iPhone.
