Goal Zero is well-known for its portable power stations, solar panels, and myriad charging gadgets that are tough enough to take off the grid. Its latest accessory, the Basecamp 4, stays true to that ethos, but is also quite unique.

It solves a common problem of modern family camping: How do you keep everybody’s devices all charged?

Goal Zero Basecamp 4

A 4-in-1 wireless charger

The Goal Zero Basecamp 4 isn’t a complicated gadget, but it is unique. It’s a portable wireless charger with four different charging pads — all supporting MagSafe charging.

This means that, when used with the right wall adapter (or portable power station), it can wirelessly charge four iPhones via MagSafe at their fastest charging speeds. Pretty cool.

Given that most smartphones support wireless charging, this one gadget can simultaneously charge up to four people’s smartphones. For a lot of families, that’s probably everybody’s device.

100 watts of wireless power

To ensure that each of the Basecamp 4’s wireless charging pads is charging at its max capacity — each up to 15 watts — you need to make sure you’re using a 100-watt (or more) wall adapter.

Goal Zero claims that the Basecamp 4 is compatible with any of its 6th generation Yeti power stations — the one pictured in the photos is the Yeti 700 ($600).

In addition to the charging pads, the Basecamp 4 has a USB-C to USB-C cable (that supports up to 240 watts). The company recommends using this cable to ensure the fastest charging speeds.

Foldable with magnetic closure

The Goal Zero Basecamp 4 has a convenient foldable design — two wireless charging pads fold on top and magnetically stick together — so it’s easier to slip into your pack, making for easy transport.

This design is similar to other portable wireless chargers, such as Apple’s MagSafe Duo (discontinued) or Mophie’s 3-in-1 Travel Charger, but neither of those supports wireless charging for four devices simultaneously.

Price and availability

The Goal Zero Basecamp 4 is available now and typically costs $80. However, the company is currently running an early-bird special that drops the price by nearly half.
