There are a number of different MagSafe-compatible portable batteries out there, all of which magnetically attach to your iPhone — must be an iPhone 15, iPhone 14, iPhone 13 or iPhone 12 — so that you can wirelessly charge it on the go. No need to bring a cable.

That said, there is a lot MagSafe battery packs — and they are all a bit different. Some have higher capacities, which also tends to make them more expensive. Some can charge your iPhone faster than others. Some support reverse wireless charging, so they can wirelessly charge your iPhone and be wirelessly charged when not attached to the iPhone. And some just look nicer than others.

Note: Apple has stopped selling the MagSafe Battery Pack, but it’s strongly expected for Apple to release a USB-C version soon. That said, you can still buy the MagSafe Battery Pack from third-party sellers.

Apple’s official MagSafe portable battery for the iPhone comes with some key advantages. It charges via Lightning and can fast charge (up to 15-watts) when plugged into power. It can also wirelessly fast-charge your iPhone at 7.5 watts, which is faster than any other MagSafe battery pack. And its battery life can be seen from your iPhone’s Lock Screen and from the Batteries widget.

This is one of the highest-end and most expensive MagSafe portable batteries you can buy. It has a large 10,000-mAh capacity, a built-in kickstand and it even has a tripod socket for the more creative types. Additionally, it has an in/out USB-C port that allows you to charge a second device (so long as you have a separate charging cable) while you also charge your iPhone.

Best Budget Choice: Belkin Magnetic Wireless Power Bank 2.5K

Pros

This is one of the closest alternatives to Apple’s MagSafe Battery Pack. It has a 2,500-mAh capacity, which is quite a bit higher-capacity than Apple’s option despite being roughly the same physical size. And one of the coolest things about it is, just like Apple’s option, it automatically starts charging your iPhone when it magnetically clips to the back. No need to press a button.

  • It's compatible with Moft's other MagSafe accessories

Cons

  • It's not able to fully recharge your iPhone.

Moft’s Snap Battery Pack is one of our favorites because of its small size, relatively affordable price and nice leather design. It’s available in several different color finishes (including purple). And it has a magnetic back that allows it to work with Moft’s other accessories, like its Stand & Wallet. The only real caveat is that it has a 3,400 mAh capacity and thus isn’t able to fully recharge your iPhone.

First, it doubles as a wireless charging stand (thanks to a kickstand leg). And two, it has an integrated 1/4-inch tripod socket.

The Mophie Snap+ Juice Pack Mini is the company’s smallest and most affordable portable battery that works with MagSafe. It has a 5,000 mAh capacity and fits pretty much flush on your iPhone. The cool thing is that it comes with a snap adapter that can be attached to the back of an older iPhone or an Android smartphone so that it then supports magnetic wireless charging.

This is one of the most unique and expensive MagSafe battery packs you can buy. It has a 10,000 mAh capacity and thus is capable of recharging your iPhone about twice over. It’s unique because it has a built-in stand and a charging puck for your Apple Watch. And when connected to power, the portable battery turns into a true MagSafe charging base that can fast-charge your iPhone and Apple Watch.

Released midway through 2022, Anker’s MagSafe-compatible portable battery is unique in a few ways. It has a 10,000mAh capacity, making it one of the highest capacity options out there. It’s comes in multiple colors; in addition to blue, it comes in black or white finishes. And it has an integrated kickstand.

This is OtterBox’s direct rival to Apple’s own portable MagSafe Battery Pack. It’s one of the only options that has magnets on both sides of the battery pack, so you can magnetically attach various stands while it’s also charging your iPhone. And it has roughly the same capacity (5,000 mAh) while being about $30 cheaper. However, the opposite side doesn’t support wireless charging, and the only way to recharge it is via a USB-C wired connection.
