Chipolo has been a prominent brand in Bluetooth trackers for years. It makes various devices, many of which support Apple’s Find My network and thus work very similarly to AirTags. However, they come at a slightly cheaper price point.

The brand’s newest Bluetooth tracker, the Chipolo Pop, delivers on many of those same promises and offers other key advantages, too.

Works with iPhone and Android

To date, Chipolo has made three distinct lines of Bluetooth trackers: Its “One” devices only work with Chipolo’s app. Its “Spot” devices only work with Apple’s Find My network. And its “Point” devices only work with Google’s Find My Device network.

The Chipolo Pop is the culmination of all three lines, meaning it works with all three apps and services right out of the box, eliminating a lot of the guesswork when determining which tracker is right for you.

While you technically don’t have to download Chipolo’s app when setting up the Pop, you’ll want it because it unlocks a cool feature — you can double-tap the back of the Pop, and it’ll call your smartphone for you (a helpful feature in case your smartphone is misplaced).

No extra accessory required

The Chipolo Pop is a similar size and shape as the company’s existing One tracker. It’s a circular tracker that runs on a replaceable CR2032 battery (similar to an AirTag) and promises up to a year of runtime.

Like the One tracker, Chipolo’s Pop has a keyring hole built into its body, allowing you to easily attach it to a keyring, bag or other personal belonging.

This is a significant difference from Apple’s AirTag, which requires you to purchase an extra accessory if you want to attach it to something (which you almost definitely do).

You’ve got color options

Like the One, Chipolo offers the Pop in a variety of different colors. This includes blue, yellow, green, white, black and red. So you can get tracker to match your style or whatever you plan on attaching it to.

Apple notoriously only sells AirTags in one color, white.

Better than Chipolo’s other trackers

The Pop has a few other advantages over the brand’s other trackers. For starters, it has a better range. While the Pop maxes out at 300 feet, the brand’s other trackers have a 200-foot range.

The Pop also has an improved IP55 rating — up from IPX5. So, while not quite waterproof, it should be slightly more durable than Chipolo’s previous trackers.

One significant disadvantage of the Chipolo Pop compared to an AirTag is that it lacks Apple’s U1 chip and, therefore, doesn’t support Precision Finding. This means it won’t be quite as easy to pinpoint the exact location of the lost tracker when within roughly 50 feet.

Price and availability

The Chipolo Pop costs $29, making it slightly more expensive than the company’s other circular-shaped trackers but the same price as Apple’s AirTag.

You can order the Chipolo Pop from the company’s website or Amazon right now. However, if you order directly from Chipolo, your order promises to ship roughly a week sooner.

In addition to a one-pack, you can order a four-pack of Chipolo Pop for $89 — a significant discount, as each tracker comes out to $22 a pop.
