Another week down, and, per usual, a bunch of new tech and gadgets have been announced.
This past week, McIntosh released a special edition of its integrated turntable, Leica now makes its own 35mm film, and Schiit Audio introduced a next-gen version of its headphone amplifier. But that’s just scratching the surface.
Below, we’ve rounded up all the most interesting new releases and announcements you might have missed from the past week.

McIntosh MTI100 (Sun Records Limited Edition)
McIntosh teamed up with Sun Records — the famous record label that launched some of the most iconic names in rock and roll, such as Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash — to release a special edition version of its MTI100 integrated turntable. It’s exactly the same as the 2019-released original, but features a custom-printed glass plinth with Sun Records’ branding. It comes with a custom felt slipmat with Sun Records markings on it, too.
In celebration of its 45-year relationship with an iconic British recording studio, B&W has released a special edition version of its 801 D4 Signature floorstanding loudspeaker, which the brand calls its “very best loudspeaker.” They have a new look, with vintage walnut cabinets (inspired by the studio’s iconic interiors) and bespoke red Leather by Connolly trim (inspired by the studio’s red leather chairs). Bowers & Wilkins will only sell 140 pairs of these limited edition loudspeakers.
Apple has started selling three of Mophie’s popular charging accessories in a new “bright” colorway that has accents of teal, orange, and purple. It’s the first time in several years that Mophie has gone away from its classic black and grey palette. The three special-edition products include Mophie’s powerstation plus 10k, its 3-in-1 travel charger and its USB-C charging cable (available in two lengths). All are exclusively available at Apple and cost the same price as their non-colorful brethren.
The Sabrina V is a new and improved version of the 2020-released Sabrina X, the Utah-based luxury hi-fi manufacturer’s smallest and most affordable floorstanding loudspeaker. The “V” has a similar look, but its front baffle is made with a new proprietary material, called H-Material, that helps improve its sound. It also borrows driver technologies from the company’s much larger and more expensive loudspeakers, including its flagship Chronosonic XVX floorstanding loudspeakers, which cost $329,000.
The Leica Monopan 50 is the first self-branded 35mm film that the company has ever released. It’s a black-and-white film that’s super panchromatic, which gives photographers the flexibility to use colored filters to change the image’s final appearance. It’s a high-resolution film with 280 line pairs per millimeter. And, as its name suggests, it has an ISO of 150. A roll will cost $10, and it’ll go on sale at the end of August 2025.
The Plugable UD-7400PD is a USB-C dock for Mac and Windows power users. Its headline feature is that it can support five external displays — either one 8K (at 30Hz) and four 4K (at 60Hz) displays, or three 8K (at 30Hz) displays — with its various HDMI and USB-C ports. It also supports 140-watt passthrough charging for your laptop and 30 watts of additional power to your other peripherals.
The Soundcore Sleep A30 is a new-and-improved version of the company’s Sleep A20 wireless sleep earbuds. Unlike their predecessors, the Sleep A30 have built-in active noise-cancellation and promise to do a significantly better job at blocking out ambient sounds while you sleep. They also are slightly smaller and therefore should be more comfortable. They cost $230, but early Kickstarter backers can snag them for $139. They are expected to start shipping in August.
In 2022, Final, the Japanese hi-fi maker specializing in audiophile-grade in-ear headphones, released its first pair of wireless noise-cancelling over-ear headphones: the UX3000. The “SV” models have the same minimalist design and price tag, but pack improved sound, active noise-cancellation and battery life.
The Satechi USB4 Slim NVMe SSD Enclosure is an accessory specifically designed for Apple’s Mac Mini. The enclosure costs $120 and supports up to an 8TB NVMe SSD, which is sold separately and can cost $500 or more. However, this is actually a great deal because Apple charges nearly four times as much to upgrade a Mac Mini with 8TB of storage. As you’d expect, the enclosure has the same footprint and rests on top of the Mac Mini (and connects to it via USB-C), so it blends right into your entry-level desktop setup.
The Schiit Asgard X is the newest iteration of its original Asgard headphone amplifier, which the American hi-fi maker released in 2010. The Asgard X is a Class A headphone amplifier and preamp that pays homage to the original in name and by looking nearly identical, but overhauled the Asgard X’s internals so that it’s actually quite similar to its flagship headphone amplifier, the Mjolnir. According to the brand, the “Asgard X brings much [of the] Mjolnir 3 to a smaller, friendlier design.”
