It’s been a big week for Apple, who already announced new MacBook Airs, entry-level iPads, iPad Airs and Mac Studios … and there could still yet be more to come.

One thing that hasn’t made as many headlines as its new devices, however, is that Apple quietly introduced new instructions for cleaning your AirPods. It also has endorsed a new AirPods cleaning kit made by Belkin.

Apple has a support page that gives you instructions on how to clean and take care of your AirPods — all models.

In the past, it hasn’t really advised getting a fancy cleaning kit … which can be pretty expensive. Instead, it simply stated that you’d need a few household supplies like a microfiber cloth, soft-bristled brush, cotton swabs and water and vinegar.

While that’s still the case, Apple recently updated its support page to give new instructions to clean its most recent wireless earbuds, the AirPods 4 (with or without ANC). But it also now appears to endorse Belkin’s AirPods Cleaning Kit … which Apple sells, of course.

At $13, Belkin’s cleaning kit isn’t that expensive — however, you probably have (or could easily obtain) each of the components. It comes with a cleaning brush, microfiber cloth, a cleaning solution, and deionized water.

Belkin previously sold a different AirPods Cleaning Kit — which you can still buy for $10 — with slightly different packaging.

Price and availability

The Belkin AirPods Cleaning Kit is now available on Apple’s website. It costs $13.

According to the product page, the tools can be “reused for multiple cleanings.”
