Apple’s Entire AirPods Lineup Has Never Been This Cheap

Prime Day has always been a great time to join the AirPod bandwagon or upgrade from an older pair, but this year’s deals are the best we’ve ever seen.

Amazon’s Prime “Day” shopping event has always been one of the best times of the year to grab Apple AirPods at a discount. But this year’s deals are setting a new benchmark.

Every model in Apple’s latest AirPods lineup is now at an all-time low, making this an unprecedented opportunity to finally pick up your first pair or upgrade from an older pair that either lacks the latest audio features and sound quality improvements, a decent battery life, or both.

Should You Upgrade Now?

All three AirPods models currently discounted—AirPods 4, AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C, and AirPods Max with USB-C—were introduced in 2024.

While the extent of the updates varied across models, they all share one major upgrade: USB-C charging. That change alone brings real convenience, especially for users of newer iPhones and iPads, as it means you can finally leave the Lightning cable behind.

While the extent of the updates varied across models, they all share one major upgrade: USB-C charging.

Alongside USB-C, these newer models offer other meaningful improvements: better sound quality, more refined form factors, longer battery life, and more efficient wireless charging.

Whether you’re upgrading from an older AirPods model or joining the AirPods ecosystem for the first time, these changes should improve your user experience, particularly if you’ve been using an older pair set with a waning battery life.

There is a chance Apple could announce new AirPods in September, as it has done in some past years. But there’s no guarantee—Apple hasn’t updated its AirPods line annually in a consistent way. And even if new models are unveiled this fall, the current ones will remain fully compatible with the latest iPhones and other Apple devices for years to come.

Pricing Perspectives

Apple introduced the H2 chipset with the AirPods Pro, which significantly improved noise-cancellation and transparency modes. It also enables personalized Spatial Audio, which allows the newest AirPods Pro and AirPods Max to deliver an even more immersive experience.

Here’s how AirPod pricing breaks down during this year’s Prime Day:

  • AirPods 4 – Now at $10 below their previous all-time low
  • AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C – Also $10 below their lowest price ever
  • AirPods Max with USB-C – Currently $30 below their previous all-time low

For context, those prior record-low prices were also only one-offs available during heavy-sale periods like Black Friday or last year’s Prime Day, and traditionally, all of these headphones tend to cost $40 or more, depending on the set.

If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to buy AirPods, it hasn’t been any better than this, and you’d likely have to wait at least until Black Friday to see prices this low again.

Apple AirPods Max (USB-C)

This is the lowest price we’ve ever seen the latest version of Apple’s AirPods Max headphones hit. They are exactly the same as the 2020-released noise-canceling headphones — same abilities thanks to its (now-older) H1 chip and same fit—but they’ve been updated with USB-C charging (instead of Lightning) and a couple of new colorways. This is the first time these new models have been discounted.

Apple AirPods Pro 2 (USB-C)

Even after Apple unveiled the new AirPods 4, the AirPods Pro 2 are still the most advanced AirPods Apple sells. They have the best audio quality and most powerful noise cancellation of any of Apple’s wireless earbuds. Thanks to a software update, they’re also now equipped with new hearing health and hearing aid functionality. This is the lowest price we’ve seen this pair hit to date.

Apple AirPods 4

This is the lowest price we’ve seen Apple’s new entry-level wireless earbuds hit. They have the same open-air design (no silicone ear tips) and sound exactly like the AirPods 4 with active noise-cancellation — both have the same H2 chip and internal acoustic architecture. These baseline models lack active noise cancellation or transparency modes.

Apple AirPods 4 with Active Noise-Cancellation

The AirPods 4 with Active Noise-Cancellation are Apple’s midrange wireless earbuds. They have the same open-air design and fit as the entry-level AirPods 4 and the exact same sound quality. However, the exact $50 gets you some pretty notable upgrades, including noise-cancellation and transparency modes. The other big improvement is that the charging case supports wireless charging and has a built-in speaker (for Find My). This is the lowest price they’ve hit so far.
