CanonIt seems like only a year ago we were telling you about the Canon Powershot S100 — wait, it WAS a year ago, almost to the day. So, in celebration of that anniversary, Gear Patrol, or rather Canon, brings you the next evolutionary step in point-and-shoot cameras, the Powershot S110 ($449), scheduled to hit stores in November. Besides an extra 10% of numerology, Canon adds Wi-Fi for automatic picture uploads and subtracts GPS, which drained battery life. A new LCD capacitive touchscreen is perhaps the most noteworthy change (allowing you to literally point and shoot) and a first for Canon at this trim level. Otherwise, the camera shares much with the earlier edition: similar body style (in matte black, gloss white, and brushed silver); same lens, zoom (5x optical, 4x digital), resolution (12.1 MP), and HD 1080p video recording. Canon makes an excellent pocket shooter, and the S110 sit at the top of the totem pole — no matter what your bitter iPhone says. However, the S110 is no revolutionary leap. What are we saying? Now might be a great time to grab a deal on an S100 (~$339) and use some of the savings to buy an Eye-Fi card.
