Canon has sent its DSLR rabble-raising Rebel to finishing school and today it has introduced — with degree in hand — the Canon Rebel T4i ($949, kit). Packed with prosumer grade technology from the 7D and 60D models, the T4i packs an 18 megapixel APS CMOS sensor, DIGIC 5 processor, 5 fps shooting, 12,800 ISO, and a 3″ flip-out touchscreen. But this isn’t just a pared down enthusiast camera. It’s got a few tricks up its sleeve too like a handheld night scene mode, video snapshot, enhanced full HD movie auto focusing, a hybrid CMOS for improved focus and shooting speed in Live View and all the video shooting goodness you’ve come to expect from a Canon. Oh, and if you’re obsessed with keeping your camera rig light and ready, Canon has also introduced a 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens ($199) alongside the Rebel.
