The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 has been one of the best convertible laptops for the past few years. We named it the “new king 2-in-1 laptops” back in 2017. Since then the laptop has been interactively updated, but this year it looks like Dell is giving it a near-total hardware redesign. Announced at Computex 2019, the new XPS 13 2-in-1 will have a totally revamped display, hinge and keyboard.

The display will be 13.4 inches with a 16:10 aspect ratio and slimmed-down bezels. Dell claims that the screen will be 7-percent bigger than the previous model’s. The taller screen size means that the XPS 13 2-in-1 will have a larger footprint than previous models, but Dell is using this as an excuse to increase the size of both the keyboard and trackpad — theoretically, this should make the laptop easier to use. You’ll have the option to configure the XPS 13 2-in-1 with a 4K HDR display, too.

Despite the larger footprint, the new convertible laptop will be 8-percent thinner. The new models will also be updated with Intel’s latest 10th-gen processors for a roughly twofold increase in CPU performance. Rounding out the rest of the upgrades, Dell has redesigned the hinge so that it’s easier to switch the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 between laptop and tablet modes.

The new XPS 13 2-in-1 will start at $999 and it will be available in early August.
