Mophie’s New Battery Pack Takes Portability to Another Level

Mophie’s newest releases are tiny but mighty chargers for the phones of the future.

Mophie just announced a couple of new pint-sized battery packs: one for the Palm phone and another more universal backup charger they’re calling the Powerstation Keychain.

The latter of these two releases will appeal to more people — it has dimensions considerably smaller than most wallets, and it includes a carabiner and an integrated USB-C cable. With a retail price of just $40, the 1,200mAh charger is ideal for clipping to the inside of your commuter bag and forgetting all about it until that fateful day you find yourself stranded and creeping below 20 percent. It’s good for about half a charge on a modern smartphone — or just enough to see you through the rest of your day.

Perhaps less universally appealing but no less useful is Mophie’s new Juice Pack for Palm. Released in 2018, the Palm is a kind of diet smartphone. Using the same SIM card as your main smartphone it keeps necessary functions like phone calls, email and texting while dumping popular apps and games. At the end of the day, though, it’s still a phone and that means it benefits from the extra 13 hours of charge, drop and edge-to-edge protection Mophie’s new juice pack provides.
