Wi-Charge is a super interesting company that makes “long-range wireless power technology” and products that utilize it. For instance, the company just announced a Wireless Power Kit for Amazon Echo Dot and Google Home Mini. It works like a traditional transmitter-and-receiver system, but the technology actually beams infrared light to the battery dock that then keeps the smart speaker powered on. Yes, it charges via light. The end result essentially lets you use either smart speaker throughout your house without needing to be plugged into the wall (as long as it’s still connected to wi-fi and within range to the Wi-Charge receiver).

That said, these Wi-Charge kits for Echo Dot and Google Home Mini are still in the prototype stages, so you can’t purchase them just yet. But we expect to hear more about them at CES 2019.
