Owning a 55-inch flat screen TV seems pretty damn sweet — that is until you mount it next to Sharp’s Nimitz-class LC-80LE632U. With an 80-inch diagonal, this full LED backlit HD 120Hz TV features more than double the screen area of the now belittled “big screen” we just mentioned, or four times the screen area of your average 40-incher. Just in case sheer size wasn’t enough to render you wide-eyed and speechless, the unit also packs in Smart TV functionality including built-in Wi-Fi, Netflix, CinemaNow and VUDU – while measuring 4-inches thick. The lack of 3D capabilities, Sharp’s highly marketed “Quattron” yellow pixel color and local dimming may upset pickier consumers, but frankly we’d be just fine watching football without ’em. Especially when you consider the set will be available in the US starting this October for an MSRP of $5,500. That makes it an affordable and interesting option compared to installing a projector in brightly lit room — or stealing the Cowboy’s jumbo tron.
