The Nomad Base Station ($100) is a pretty unique wireless charging pad. Not just in the way it looks – and it looks great, decked out in space grey aluminum and a black leather wireless charging surface – but Nomad’s newest desktop accessory boasts a neat trick: it can actually wirelessly charge two Qi-enabled devices at once. Not only that, but it has two additional USB ports (one USB-A, one USB-C) that you can plug into and charge two other devices. That’s four devices total, all charging simultaneously.
Despite being able to charge all these devices, the Base Station is hardly bigger than most other wireless charging pads and won’t take up too much room on your desk or nightstand. As for power specs, it’s able to wireless charge both devices at 10-watts, meaning it can simultaneously fast charge both iPhones or Android smartphones. Out of the other charging ports, the USB-A port can output at 7.5-watts while the USB-C can output at 18-watts.
For many people, Nomad’s Base Station might just be the premium wireless charging pad that they’ve been waiting for. And, if you’ve been holding your breath for Apple’s AirPower and are getting red in the face, this might actually be a better alternative (although it won’t be able to charge an Apple Watch).
The Nomad Base Station is available for pre-order right now for $100. It’ll start shipping in early October.
