Amazon announced today that they’re releasing a 3rd generation Echo Dot and a brand new device called the Input.

The Dot speaker has been one of Amazon’s most reliable sellers over the past few years. So reliable, in fact, that today at the company’s event in Seattle, Amazon Senior Vice President of Devices Dave Limp said the Echo Dot is the best selling smart speaker ever made.

At a full 70% louder than the previous generation and sporting a nice fabric-covered look, the new Echo Dot will likely stay that way. Its ability to connect to other speakers via both an audio output and Bluetooth connection likely won’t hurt, either. And the price? Still just $50.

In addition to upgrading the Dot, Amazon also announced the Input. Essentially a Dot without a speaker, the gadget makes Alexa even more accessible to a broader range of people. At just $35, users can plug in the small device into existing audio equipment – and it’ll turn into an Alexa-enabled device.

Neither of these products will end up being the biggest announcement from Amazon today, but both will likely bring more users into Amazon’s ecosystem. For a company that’s duking it out with the likes of Google and Apple, that’s a big deal.
