When you’re shopping for a soundbar or home theater system, and you’re looking for the best, you want it to support Dolby Atmos. It’s the pinnacle of surround sound technology, as it’s super immersive and makes the audio seem like it’s coming from all around you (above, behind and from the sides). The cool thing with Dolby Atmos is that now more and more movies and shows support it, as well as popular streaming devices, such as Apple TV 4K and Xbox One. Essentially, it’s getting easier to listen to the best-quality home cinema experience. And it’s getting cheaper to get it.
Vizio, the company behind some of the most popular and best-reviewed soundbars, just announced its 2018 line of soundbars – and for the first time, they all support Dolby Atmos. The cheapest and smallest of the bunch is the Vizio 36-inch Home Theater Sound System. It’s $500, which is pretty affordable considering it’s a 5.1.2 system, complete with a subwoofer and two satellite speakers. Then there are two larger Vizio 46-inch soundbars, one is a 3.1.2 system ($800) and the other is a 5.1.4 system ($1,000).
Vizio’s new 36-inch soundbar is available now, while both of the larger models will be released later this year.
