Today, Bowers & Wilkins unveiled its new 600 Series of entry-level speakers, comprised of four new models: the flagship 603 floor-standing speakers, the 606 bookshelf speakers, the smaller 607 bookshelf speakers and the HTM6 center channel speaker. All are available in either black (matte finish) or white (glossy finish), and they’re designed for anybody building a beautiful home theater or vinyl system.
The speakers themselves might not share the distinctly stunning aesthetic of B&W’s flagship 800 Series – not to mention the $60,000 Nautilus – but each is bespoke and clean looking, and they’ll probably become an instant focal point for guests in your home.
As for sound, Bowers & Wilkins is known for making beautiful audiophile-grade speakers and the 600 Series falls in line with just that. Every speaker features B&W’s new Continuum Cone midrange driver, which is made of woven composite instead of the traditional Kevlar cone that B&W has traditionally been known for; and each speaker features an updated version of B&W’s Decoupled Double Dome tweeter for accurate higher-frequencies and treble. (The smaller 607 bookshelf speaker is the only 600 Series speaker without this Decoupled Double Dome tweeter.) And then going up to the larger speakers, you’re obviously going to get bigger and better woofers and tweeters.
The 600 Series is also the most affordable B&W speakers you can buy. The smaller 607 bookshelf speakers are $600/pair, while the slightly larger 606 bookshelf and 603 floor-standing speakers will go for $800 and $1,800, respectively. The HTM6 center channel speaker rumbles in at $599. That means if you’re strict on a budget, you get a get a full 2.1 system (a pair of 606 bookshelf speakers and a center channel) for around $1,400 – not bad considering it’s a B&W system.
The new B&W 600 Series will be available for purchase this September.
