Samsung just held its big summer event — Unpacked 2023 — where it announced a bunch of new gadgets. Specifically, Samsung announced the next-generation models of its Flip and Fold foldable smartphones. It announced two new smartwatches, including a “Classic” model that brings back Samsung’s signature rotating bezel. And then it announced three Android tablets in its new Tab S9 series.

Check out below for the lowdown on each of the biggest announcements.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is the fifth-generation foldable smartphone in Samsung’s “Flip” series — and the big upgrade this time around is that Samsung gave it a significantly bigger cover screen (or “Flex Window”), which is the small screen on the front of the smartphone when folded, than its predecessors; it’s 3.78-times bigger than the one on last year’s Flip 4. Samsung also updated the Flip 5 with a faster processor (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2), an improved camera system, a more rugged body and a more adjustable hinge.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 starts at $1,000 — the same price as last year’s Flip 4 — and will be available starting August 11. You can pre-order it now.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is the newest foldable smartphone in Samsung’s higher-end and more-productivity-focused Fold series. It’s not that much different than last year’s Fold 4 – in fact, it has the same size displays and camera systems — but the big thing with this new model is that it’s slimmer, lighter and therefore more pocketable than before. Additionally, Samsung also gave the Fold 5 some other next-gen upgrades in the form of a faster processor (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2), a more rugged and more eco-friendly design, some new productivity features and a more adjustable hinge design.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 starts at $1,800 — the same price as last year’s Fold 4 — and will be available starting August 11. You can pre-order it now.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic

The Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic are the company’s newest smartwatches and the next generations of the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, respectively. (It seems that Samsung has not made a next-gen version of its Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.) The two smartwatches are very similar, but the “Classic” comes in larger sizes (43mm and 47mm versus 40mm and 44mm) and has a signature rotating bezel for navigation. Compared to the predecessors, both smartwatches have larger and brighter displays, slimmer bezels, larger batteries, faster charging capabilities and a couple of new health and wellness features.

The Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic will start at $330 and $400, respectively. They will be available starting August 11. You can pre-order them now.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9, S9 Plus and S9 Ultra

Samsung announced its new Tab S9 series of Android tablets. Just like last year’s Tab S8 series, there are three models to choose from — the Tab S9 (11 inches), the Tab S9 Plus (12.4 inches) and the Tab S9 Ultra (14.6 inches) — but the thing is that Samsung has unified a lot of the high-end features and specs across the board. Although different sizes, all three Tab S9 tablets all have the same AMOLED display with a max 120Hz refresh rate. They all run on the same Snapdragon 8 Gen processor. They all have IP68-rating, so they’re more durable. And they all come with Samsung’s stylus, the S Pen, in the box. There are still differences, as the larger tablets have nicer cameras, larger batteries and more storage. But in general, Samsung’s entry-level tablets just got a lot more appealing.

All three tablets are available for preorder now and will start shipping on August 11. The Tab S9 starts at $800. The Tab S9 Plus starts at $1,000. And the Tab S9 Ultra starts at $1,200.
