The Sony a7R III is one of the best digital cameras on the market. It has a ridiculously massive sensor and is a pro-grade camera in every way imaginable. Chances are, you aren’t a pro-grade photographer and frankly, you don’t need and won’t use everything that the a7R III offers at around $3,000 (body only). Enter the Sony a7 III. The a7 III takes everything that’s great about the a7R III and puts it into a more enthusiast-friendly package. The sensor is effectively half the size, but at 24.2-megapixels it’s still more than enough to make a terrifically good travel camera. But beyond the spec sheet reading similarly to most high-end mirrorless cameras on the market, the a7 III also brings a sleeper stat to the table: 710 shots on a single battery charge. In comparison, Fuji’s X-T2 will go for around 340 shots on a single charge. The Sony a7 III will be available in April and will retail for $1,999 (body only).
