Editor’s note: The iPhone 14 Plus (above left) and iPhone 14 Pro Max (above right) were released in fall 2022 and are the predecessors to the current iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The two smartphones are quite similar, but because they are a year older they lack some newer features.
When Apple released the iPhone 14 Plus and the iPhone 14 Pro Max in late 2022, it marked the first time in recent years that it was selling two really big phones. That’s right, due to lackluster sales, Apple discontinued the iPhone “mini” and replaced it was the “Plus.”
In terms of size, the iPhone 14 Plus and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are basically identical — both have 6.7″ displays, which are considerably bigger than the 6.1″ displays of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro — but the iPhone 14 Plus is definitely the more budget-friendly option. It lacks many of the high-end “Pro” features, but comes in at $200 cheaper.
I’ve both iPhone 14 Plus and the iPhone 14 Pro Max for the last several weeks longer and after spending time with both of them, I’ll admit: the differences are basically the same as between the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro.
Of course, there’s more to it than that. Read on.
