This week Sonos announced its first speaker integrated with Amazon’s Alexa, the Sonos One. Despite looking and sounding nearly identical to its Play:1 speaker, and costing the same too ($199), the Sonos One isn’t going to replace the Play:1. If you don’t need an Alexa-enabled speaker, or don’t want to deal with turning on off its “always listening” microphones, you can still buy a Play:1. And that’s a good thing for people who love Sonos.
Another good thing is that, right now, you get a great deal on a Sonos Play:1 or Play:5 speaker if you order on Amazon. When you add the Sonos Play:1 to your cart and apply the code “SONOSPLAY1” at checkout, the speaker will drop to $140 — $60 off its normal $200 price. You can do the same thing with Play:5, except apply the code “SONOSPLAY5” at checkout and the speaker will cost $399 — $100 off its normal $499 price. According to Windows Central, the deal is scheduled to run through October 10 or until Amazon’s stock runs out.
