Marshall announced its first wireless multi-room speakers, which share the same aesthetic as the company’s classic guitar and bass amps. The smallest speaker is the Acton ($350); the Goldilocks speaker is the Stanmore ($450); and the biggest speaker is the Woburn ($600). The only differences are size and power; each speaker functions the same, with four tactile knobs for adjusting treble, bass, volume and connectivity. And each speaker has a multitude of wi-fi connection options, including built-in Chromecast, Spotify Connect and AirPlay. (Chromecast is the only one of the three that can do multi-room playback.) You can also connect to each speaker via RCA, aux or Bluetooth.
The wi-fi connectivity options are a nice feature, considering Fender’s similar-looking Bluetooth speakers didn’t have any. If you’re a fan of Marshall and/or have a Google Home smart speaker, these speakers should be a great option. They’ll be available for preorder on September 1, and available for purchase everywhere on September 21.
