How to Get iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra A Week Early

On June 5, at the worldwide developers conference (WWDC), Apple officially announced iOS 11 and MacOS High Sierra. Both operating systems are exciting. iOS 11 will bring a number of cool features to the iPhone and iPad: Siri has a new voice, there’s a customizable control center, screen shots have been improved, and there’s a scanner in the Notes app. Likewise, macOS High Sierra will bring improved, just-as-cool features to the Mac line: a new file system and refined upgrades on Photos and Safari.

Apple has released the first public beta of iOS 11 and MacOS High Sierra. It’s the first time for non-developers to get their first cracks at the new operating systems, and to give feedback to Apple before the systems are released to the masses on September 19th. You can get in on the (nearly finished) action right now though by signing up below.

How to Install the Public Beta of iOS 11

  • Open Safari and go to Apple’s public beta website, here.
  • After hitting the Sign Up button, enter your Apple ID and password, and agree to the terms.
  • Click the link to your iOS device and then click the “Download” button.
  • The Settings app will open. Follow the installation instructions. You’ll then have to restart your device.
  • After the restart is complete, open Settings and download the software update.
  • Agree to terms and Install.

How to Install the Public Beta of macOS High Sierra

  • Register your Mac in the free Apple Beta Software Program, here.
  • After hitting the Sign Up button, enter your Apple ID and password, and agree to terms.
  • Click the “Download the MacOS Public Beta Access Utility” button.
  • After the download is complete, launch the installer and adhere to its instructions. MacOS High Sierra should launch.
  • If it doesn’t launch, go to the Mac App Store and click the Download button.
