Grado headphones are synonymous with big drivers and sublime sound. The brand’s first flagship headphones, the PS1000, have been nearly peerless in the hi-fi headphone realm — but they’ve been around for nearly a decade. Today, the third-generation family-owned company announced its newest flagship headphone, the PS2000e ($2,695). According to John Grado, CEO of Grado Labs, it’s the company’s highest-end headphone ever.
The PS2000e headphones are designed with a metal and maple hybrid inner chamber (a first for Grado headphones) that’s housed in a smoke chrome shell. The combination helps eliminate ringing and distortions. The diaphragm of its drivers has been redesigned “to more accurately render the signal into music,” according to the company. Each pair is also supposed to be more comfortable than the previous flagship, built with a wider leather band to help promote longer listening sessions. Like Grado’s other headphones, the PS2000e headphones are made in Brooklyn.
