It’s been a while since Bose’s last big announcement, when they revealed four Bluetooth headphones, including the QC35 and QC30, back in June 2016. Now, Bose has unveiled what it’s calling the best Bluetooth speakers the company has ever made: the SoundLink Revolve ($200) and the SoundLink Revolve+ ($300). They’re Bose’s first cylindrical Bluetooth speakers that play true 360-degree sound.
According to the company’s press release, each speaker combines “dual-opposing passive-radiators with a powerful, ultra-efficient transducer — positioned face-down — and a new patented acoustic deflector. With an added ‘pressure trap’ to eliminate distortion, the result is dramatic.” Additionally, the Revolve and Revolve+ speakers are splash-proof, with an IPX4 rating, but I wouldn’t leave them out in the rain.
Expect each speaker to deliver good sound for its size with great bass and no distortion. The main difference between the two is that the Revolve+ is slightly bigger and slightly more powerful. The bigger Revolve+ also comes with a handle. If you have other Bose Soundlink speakers, like the SoundLink Mini II ($180), you’ll be able to connect them with the Revolve speakers via the Bose Connect app.
The SoundLink Revolve and SoundLink Revolve+ Bluetooth speakers will be available on April 13. Each will come in two colors: Triple Black and Lux Gray.
