V-MODA announced its first Bluetooth speaker, the Remix ($300), and it falls in line with the company’s other DJ-focused over-ear and in-ear headphones, boasting great sound and customization. Similar to how the V-MODA Crossfade Wireless headphones ($300) can be accessorized with custom shield kits (as demonstrated by prominent DJs like Avicii and Kygo), you’ll be able to order 3D-printed molds that fit over Remix’s front grill and sides. These customizations cost extra, of course, and are probably only for the select V-MODA lovers committed to making their Bluetooth speaker stand out.
The Remix’s $300 starting price and admittedly big sound (I’ve been testing one out in the office) put it on par with other larger Bluetooth speakers by Bose and Sony. But the Remix’s most interesting feature is its built-in headphone amplifier. Normally a headphone amp is an additional investment on top of any good pair of speakers. If you’re looking to buy a Bluetooth speaker, but you also want better audio for your desktop headphones, the Remix is a two-birds-one-stone kind of deal.
