You’re a busy guy. You like things simple, and you like things to work, and you like it to work well. You like listening to your tunes and Quick Mixes where and how you want them. The new Sonos S5 (which Gear Patrol is working to get one in for an official review) is about as simple as they come. Use your iPhone, Sonos Controller 200, or your Mac/PC to control the Sonos S5 and play your music remotely as it streams to the S5 via your wireless router. Of course, if you prefer your tunes fed to you, then you can choose from any of the 25,000 pre-loaded internet radio stations, as well as Pandora or Sirius amongst others.
In terms of sound, we love that Sonos hasn’t held back with just two speakers. A total of five speakers drive the S5: 2 tweeters, 2 mid-range drivers, and 1 bass driver with adjustable bass and treble controls. At 9 lbs, the S5 isn’t meant to be a “throw it in your bag and go” device, but rather an “any-room” music system that’s always ready to go. Just don’t blame us if it makes you want to purchase the more expensive full Sonos system.
