Apple has finally revealed the 7th generation 2024 iPad Pro over two years after the sixth generation broke cover in October of 2022. It’s the longest Apple has ever gone between introducing new models. As we know now, though, Apple used the lengthy wait between new releases to integrate various significant updates to the premium tablet line. We’ve outlined the most significant changes you need to know about below. If you want to learn more about Apple’s newly announced iPad Air lineup, read our rundown here.

THEY ARE THE FIrst iPADS EVER TO FEATURE An OLED DISPLAY
The most significant expected update to the iPad Pro included a few surprises even the rumor mill couldn’t predict. Apple is calling the new display featured on both sizes of the iPad Pro a “Tandem OLED” since it’s comprised of two OLED displays layered on top of each other. The unique design allows the display to provide the rich colors and black levels expected from OLED while also hitting peak brightness levels of 1,600 nits, which is on par with the HDR performance of Apple’s ultra-expensive Pro XDR Display. Apple is officially calling these new displays Ultra Retina XDR displays.
THEY ARE THE FIrst iPADS EVER TO OFFER A Matte “Nano Texture” Display OPtion
Like the Pro XDR Display and the more recent Studio Display, the new iPad Pros will also be available with a matte Nano texture treatment that helps fight glare at the expense of a bit of vibrancy. The only catch is that this display option will only be available on the more expensive 1TB and 2TB configurations. The option also costs $100 more than the standard glossy screen configuration.
