Vuori is one of the trendiest athleisure brands on the planet and, in recent years, has become one of Lululemon’s biggest rivals. If you were to ask what the California company’s signature piece was, it’d be the Kore Short.

The Kore Short is an all-purpose short that checks all the right boxes — comfort, stretchiness, moisture wicking, breathability, quick drying, looks, and affordability — which is why it’s been so popular and one of our favorite athletic shorts for the last several years.

And while you can technically find several athletic shorts in Vuori’s Running Collection — including the Kore Short, the Ponto Short and the Banks Short — none are really dedicated to running. They’re versatile, “multi-sport” shorts.

For Vuori fans looking for more serious running shorts, there’s good news: the company recently released its first shorts tailored explicitly for runners. Meet the Qualify Run shorts.

Vuori Qualify Run Shorts

“The Qualify Run short is targeted to long and short distance runners as well as casual runners who are looking for gear that offers both performance and comfort during activity,” explained Sarah Carlson Vuori’s VP of Design.

Unlike the other shorts in Vuori’s Running Collection, the Qualify Run shorts are made of a new four-way stretch fabric — 88% recycled polyester and 12% elastane — that allows them to be even lighter yet still super breathable and quick-drying.

Each Qualify Run short is designed to be as light as possible. “The trade-off for this lightweight material is that it’s less suited for multi-sport use compared to the more robust fabric of the Kore Short,” explained Carlson. “But for runners, it’s a game-changer.”

The shorts have three strategically placed outer pockets: two in the back and one on the front-left thigh. All are zippered and credit-card-sized, designed for keys, cash, credit cards, or an ID while you run. None are large enough to hold a smartphone.

Each pair has a boxer-brief mesh liner, similar to the Kore Short, for extra support. A small pocket — not zippered — is woven into this liner, too.

Additionally, the Qualify Run shorts are only available in a 6-inch inseam, which is shorter than most of Vuori’s other options. (Although the Kore Short and Banks Short do come in a 5-inch inseam option.)
