Maine Mountain Moccasin doesn’t cut any corners making its line of hand-sewn boots. Founded by Dan Heselton — also a founding member of New England Outerwear — the brand sources the majority of its materials from North America and produces its boots and shoes in a small factory in Maine. Every piece of footwear utilizes traditional true-moccasin construction and can be rebuilt after years of wear.
The brand’s latest style, called the Walk On Boot, is a 5-eye hunting boot with a lean silhouette. The upper is cut from Maine-tanned flesh-out Coyote Sumner leather which is both waterproof and military grade. Featuring Blake/McKay construction, the full leather midsole is complemented with a hard-wearing Vibram 2060 outsole. No detail on this boot is overlooked, and even the threads are notable — they’re also made in Maine.
The Walk On Boot is available in sizes 7 to 12 and costs $335, which, though not inexpensive, is a fraction of what similar boots from other brands sell for. If you’re looking for a well-made boot that is both comfortable and durable, these should be at the top of your list.
