Adidas Released a New Running Shoe That Caters to Night Owls

An upper with threads of light-reflective yarn woven into the upper is both gorgeous and practical.

The Ultraboost may have been the shoe that launched a thousand sneakers. Originally released early 2015, the athletic shoe has already run through four models and countless colorways of each. Until now, what it hasn’t done is cater to the night runner, at least not directly. Released on Friday, Adidas’s Ultraboost DNA LTD shoe does just that with a simple, smart update — reflective yarn.

Using the Ultraboost 4 frame — complete with the usual full boost midsole, rubber outsole and heel counter — the shoe’s Primeknit upper has reflective yarn woven into it (the three-stripe lace cage reflects, too). Note: if you plan on going for a night run with these, you should have more reflective and safety gear as well.

The newest Ultraboost is available now through the Adidas site.
